Business Rule ToolA tool that either adds a Business Rule value from an external system to the search results or generates it directly via configuration.
Deep QueryA function that suggests alternative search terms when no results are found.
FacetA specific characteristic for describing index items, such as color or brand.
IndexA container for a set of records that can be searched together.
BackofficeA tool inside EPS that allows granular data control, including data updates, replacements, and direct links management.
TenantTypically refers to a specific shop. However, if a shop has multiple language versions, each version is considered a separate tenant in the Backoffice.
StemmingReduces words to their root form, useful for handling plurals.
Deep Query (DQ)Function that provides alternative search terms for zero hits.
MBA (Mehrbildansicht)Multi-image view – A product list accessed via navigation (not a search result).
MKZ (Marktkennzeichen)Market Identifier = Product Group.
PIM (Product Information Management System)A system for managing product data. The search engine retrieves article information from this system.
SERP (Search Engine Result Page)The search results page in the shop where search results are displayed.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)A unique article number used for inventory tracking.
Sofion (Sortiment filter Online)A separate software tool that filters specific products from the shop based on criteria (e.g., restricted sales). These filtered products do not appear in search results or MBAs.
Blacklist EntryA setting that prevents a search from being executed for a given term, forcing a zero-results page.
Category CheckerA tool that allows users to review and verify category-based search results and configurations.
CutOff LimitA threshold that determines the minimum relevance score required for a search result to appear.
Direct LinkA search result that redirects users to a predefined URL or shop page, instead of executing a standard search.
DirectLinkCheckerA tool that validates all configured direct links and reports errors such as 404 pages or incorrect URLs.
Filter ConfigurationA system that controls the visibility, order, and behavior of filters within search results and product listings.
Filter List for SEOA downloadable list of all filters, including their technical names, displayed names, and URL parameters for SEO purposes.
MalusA penalty score applied to search results to deprioritize less relevant results.
Page CacheA system that stores pre-generated JSON files for faster page loading. Can be manually cleared if necessary.
ReplacementCheckerA tool that validates search term replacements, ensuring they return the expected search results.
Self-Learning Filter OrderA feature that automatically sorts filters based on usage frequency in search results.
Search IndexThe database of searchable terms and categories, determining which words are included or excluded from search queries.
Search Query ReductionA method that removes words from multi-word searches to avoid zero results.
SERP SortingThe algorithm that ranks search results based on relevance, business rules, and filtering criteria.
Special Word StemsA setting that prevents incorrect stemming (e.g., ensuring “Balloon” is not reduced to “Ball”).
Stop WordsFiller words that are ignored in search queries because they do not help in finding relevant products (e.g., “the,” “and,” “also”).
Suggest CacheStores autocomplete suggestions for search queries and can be manually cleared.
Suggest CheckerA tool that verifies search term suggestions, including previously searched terms, categories, and matching products.
Tenant ClusterA group of multiple tenants (shops/language versions) that share configurations and data.
Zero-Result PageThe page displayed when no search results are found, often triggered by blacklist entries or unsuccessful queries.
