Working in the CMS – Basics

This chapter provides a safe and simple introduction to working with the CMS.
It is aimed at new editors and shop managers and explains the main areas of the interface and the basic idea behind page creation.

The goal is to help you understand where content is created, edited, and structured.

Structure of the Interface

After logging in, you arrive at the main working area of the CMS.
It consists of three key sections:

  • Navigation – access to tools and features
  • Content – overview of all pages and items
  • Editing area – the workspace where you modify content

The left navigation is the starting point for most actions. Typical sections include:

  • Content – search, open, and create pages
  • Structure – overview of content types and paragraphs
  • Media (if available) – manage images and files

For editors, the Content section is usually the most relevant one.
Technical settings are generally reserved for administrators.

Content

Under “Content”, you find a list of all pages and content items stored in the system.
Here you can:

  • create new pages
  • open and edit existing content
  • filter by title, language, or status (e.g., published / draft)

This list helps keep an overview — especially in larger shops with many landing pages and homepage sections.

Paragraphs — Core Concept

Pages in the CMS are not built from one single text block.
Instead, they are created modularly using paragraphs.

Paragraphs are building blocks such as:

  • text sections
  • banners
  • teaser tiles
  • multi-column content areas
  • highlight or promotional elements

You can:

  • add new paragraphs
  • move them up or down
  • remove them
  • reuse them multiple times on a page

This allows you to design flexible layouts — without programming.
A later chapter will explain each paragraph type in detail. For now, the goal is simply to understand the principle.
